Felizmente, as diversidade de gênero, raça, etnia e nacionalidade têm ganhado cada vez mais espaço no audiovisual, e os indicados ao 73ª Emmy Awards, maior premiação da TV norte-americana, confirmaram essa importante tendência.
Neste ano, 49 indicados nas categorias de atuação e reality show são pessoas não-brancas, sendo assim o maior número na história do Oscar da TV dos EUA.
Entre as indicações que celebram essa diversidade está a de Mj Rodriguez, protagonista da elogiada Pose, do showrunner Ryan Murphy. Ela é a primeira atriz trans a concorrer na categoria de melhor atriz em série dramática. É dela também a conquista de segunda mulher de origem latina indicada na categoria, façanha iniciada por Rita Moreno.
Adaptações de peças de teatro, como Hamilton, são indicadas ao Globo de Ouro 2021
